Aix-les-Bains- The World Famous Spa town of France

Aix-les-Bains is one of the most world famous Spa towns of France and worldwide. Located in Savoy in the Rhone-Alps region of France on the shores of the Lake of Bourget, Aix Les Bains is the second French spa town and it has the biggest lake marina of France.

The hot sulphur springs have a temperature of around 43-45  and are visited annually by several thousands of tourists . The water is used for drinking as well as for hydrotherapy. Aix-les-Bains is the flagship city of the Belle Epoque internationally as it was a top holiday destination for families, princes and wealthy aristocrats.

Even today, it is nevertheless true that the spas are the main activity of the town. The city organises many activities and events on the shores of the Lake Bourget like musical festivals and the nautical rally Navig Aix . The congress palace hosts a variety of events such as conferences, concerts and seminars.

The city is characterized by the old city, with many parks and the well-known Casino Grand Circle which includes a casino and a theatre. The building is partly coated inside  with gold leaf. The historic Chateau de la Roche du Roi is also located in the town of Aix-les-Bains and is one of the tourist attractions of the city.

 The history of Aix-les-Bains is directly linked to Lake Bourget and especially its hot springs which made it the most famous spa in the world. The historical analysis of the city is in conjunction with the history of Savoy.
Several festivals are held in the town of Aix-les-Bains some of the most interesting are The Romantic Nights Festival of Lac du Bourget, the Musical Rock Festival, the Festival of Jazz and many others.
