There are many fine hotels in Vienna and also some very reasonable bed and breakfast pensions. For 5 star luxury try The Grand Hotel, with its entrance on the Kaerntner ring, and only a few yards from the world-famous Vienna State Opera House. The hotel is in the very heart of the city and is famous for having been at the centre of Viennese social life since the beginning of the 20th century. It is a truly elegant and luxurious hotel that evokes memories of the gaiety and splendour of the age of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Expect to pay around £380 per night (May 2022) but definitely worth it. Around the same price is the excellent 4 star hotel, Hotel Park Villa. This hotel lies just outside of the city centre, 10 minutes by bus and is in one of Vienna’s finest residential areas. The building is beautiful and elegant. Built in 1888 during the times of the ‘ Belle Epoque.’ It is full of old Viennese charm and style and has the added luxury of a sauna suite for its guests.  Cheaper, but still a 4 star pension is the Pension Neuer Markt. This hotel is situated in the heart of Vienna, overlooking the famous Neuer Markt Square and its decorative fountain and close to St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Opera House with all the important museums close by.  Prices quoted for May 2022 are around £70 per night.
